Arrhythmia

Arrhythmia often comes under suspicion when experiencing symptoms like palpitations, dizzy spells, or syncope. However, it can also be discovered incidentally during routine pulse checks by your doctor. Various types of arrhythmias or channelopathies may trigger such symptoms, including:
  • Sinus node dysfunction
  • Atrioventricular block
  • Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
  • Ventricular tachycardia (VT)
  • Ventricular fibrillation (VF)
  • Atrial fibrillation (AF)
  • Atrial flutter
  • Atrial tachycardia
  • Premature atrial or ventricular ectopics
  • Premature atrial or ventricular ectopics
  • Bundle branch block
  • Inherited or congenital long QT syndrome
  • Brugada syndrome
Confirming a specific arrhythmic diagnosis typically involves a 12-lead ECG or continuous Holter ECG monitoring, followed by specialized evaluation. Patients may undergo blood tests, an echocardiogram to assess heart structure, and sometimes an invasive electrophysiological study.
